Our Team

For almost my entire life, I have been passionate about both water safety and the immensely rewarding gift that a lifelong enjoyment of swimming can provide. I grew up in this community and had the opportunity to represent Team USA as a member of the National Team for almost ten years. My career culminated at the 2012 London Olympics, where I won a Gold Medal as a member of the 4x200 freestyle relay. With my wife Brittany, an All-American swimmer at the University of Tennessee and current WVLT Channel 8 News anchor, we welcomed our first child in December 2019 and are excited to instill in him the same love and respect for the water. Outside the pool we love to travel, test our culinary skills at home and perfect tummy time with our new addition.

Swimming has been a huge part of my life since I was 8 years old when I started swimming for a summer league team in Knoxville. My love for the sport quickly grew and I ended up swimming competitively through high school and then into college at Western Kentucky University. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Health Science, unsure about what I wanted to do in the future, but always knew my passion was the water. I worked a corporate health and wellness job, coached competitive swimming, and taught swim lessons for about 7 years before moving to Nashville for the opening of SafeSplash. It brings me so much joy to watch kiddos learn new skills, overcome their fear of the water, and become water safe! My husband, Cory, is also involved in the swimming world as a swim coach for Nashville Aquatic Club. When we are not at the pool, we love traveling, staying active, and fishing.
