WATER
SAFETY

At SwimLabs, we are dedicated to teaching skills that will keep your family safer around the water for life.

Why Water Safety Matters

At SwimLabs, we have a passion for swimming and we want all of our swimmers to love and respect the water.  While we are all about making learning to swim fun, we know learning to swim is a serious matter. Did you know drowning is the leading cause of injury death in the U.S. children 1 through 4 years of age? And, for every child who dies from drowning, another five receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries.

The good news is that there are many precautions you can take to lower the risk for your children. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), learning how to swim can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%. Learning how to swim is one of the most proactive safety precautions you can take for your family. And, we’re not talking about just the kids. Many times parents are also in need of becoming safer, stronger swimmers.  We are here to help - check out our swimming lessons for kids and our adult swim lesson programs.

An Innovative Water Safety Curriculum

At SwimLabs, we know kids learn best by seeing, and that's exactly how we teach them to swim. Using instant video feedback, mirrors on the bottom of the pool, and other innovative technologies, we help young swimmers learn and apply the best swimming techniques, so they can quickly gain the skills they need to be safer in the water.

Using the same technology Olympic swimmers use to train, our knowledgeable instructors teach kids of all ages the correct way to perform the four swimming strokes. This approach creates a strong foundation that your child can continue to improve upon as they grow.

In addition to group instruction with no more than 4 students per class, we offer private and semi-private lessons for children. Private and semi-private swimming lessons are designed to advance your kiddo (and up to one other swimmer) through our progressive curriculum at an accelerated rate, based on their individual abilities. Using tools, videos, mirrors, and swimming aids, we create the ideal personalized learning environment that emphasizes skill retention and having fun.

We believe swimmers need to develop swim skills that not only allow them to float but also move themselves to safety as confident, efficient swimmers. Having a correct, efficient swim stroke enables swimmers to move out of potentially dangerous situations.  Our swim lesson program includes:

  • A progressive curriculum focused on water safety, skill development, and proper swimming technique for the four fundamental swim strokes.
  • Experienced, passionate, and certified instructors who have completed extensive classroom and in-water training programs, along with a series of instructor-shadowing sessions.
  • Our commitment to match the instructor’s teaching style to the needs of each swimmer.
  • Regular updates on your swimmer’s progress through our skill tracking, progress reports, and Splash-N-Tell™ program. With Splash-N-Tell™, parents are invited to the last 10 minutes of class to talk with the instructor and let their child show off their new skills.

Let’s Talk Water Safety

The topic of water safety is an important conversation to have with your children at home before you even are around the water. You’re already taking a big step by enrolling your child in swim lessons as swim lessons reduce the risk of drowning by 88%. There are a lot of things that you can do to keep kids safer near or in the water. Here are a few safety tips to go over with your kids before your next visit to the pool:

  • Teach children water safety and swimming skills as early as possible
  • Children should always be supervised around the water
  • Always swim with a buddy
  • Enter the water feet first
  • Stay away from pool drains
  • Follow safety rules: no running, pushing, dunking or breath-holding contests
  • Know your limits
  • Teach children to not drink the pool water
  • Don’t use floatation devices as a substitute for supervision

Water Safety Education Outreach Programs

At SwimLabs we are proud of the positive impact we have on every single student we teach to swim. Over the years we have developed tens of thousands of strong, confident swimmers. Our commitment to our community goes beyond the families that come to us. Knowing that learning to swim is the most effective thing we can do to lower the risk of drowning, we feel we have a responsibility to take this message to our community. Together, we can reduce the risk of drowning for kids by talking about water safety and encouraging swim lessons.
