We are innovative and forward-thinking, using the latest in technology to push our sport forward, helping make swimmers of all levels more proficient and speeding up the learning curve.

 


Kim Vandenberg
Head Elite Level Coach and Head Clinician

kim v.jpgKim Vandenberg is SwimLabs Westchester’s Head Elite Level Instructor and Head Clinician. Kim is an American Olympic Bronze medalist, Pan American Games gold medalist, World Championship silver medalist, motivational speaker, global philanthropist, swim clinician and health and wellness coach with passions in teaching, writing and inspiring people to achieve their fullest potential.  Kim has over twenty-five years of racing experience and continues to train, race and teach around the world.  Kim trained for the Beijing Olympic Games at UCLA and post collegiately swam throughout Europe and at UC Berkeley.  With her alternative training methods, she fully integrates the mind-body connection necessary to perform at the highest level of the sport.

Rudy Garcia Tolson
Elite Instructor

Rudy Garcia Tolson is a 4-time Paralympian and Ironman finisher. Along with his abilities in the pool Rudy has a passion for teaching not only the technical side of the sport but the mental fortitude needed to succeed in achieving your training and performance goals. Rudy will be providing individual and group programming as well as running clinics for all ages here a SwimLabsWestchester.

Rudy won his first Paralympic gold medal at the 2004 Paralympics in the 200-meter individual medley and broke the world record for his class. Rudy continued to compete on the international level qualifying for 3 more Olympic teams and winning numerous individual medals at the Paralympics and World Championships.

Along with his successful swimming career, Rudy participated in the 100 and 200-meter track and field events at the 2012 Paralympic games in London. Rudy also participates and trains for triathlons. He has competed at the ½ Ironman distance and is the only double above the knee amputee to complete a full Ironman Race. Rudy recently completed the swim and run portion of a relay at the New York City Triathlon.

SwimLabs Westchester is thrilled to be bringing Rudy’s expertise and mentorship to our new state of the art facility. Rudy has a wealth of experience along with a passion for teaching aquatics and growing the adaptive aquatics community.

We welcome Rudy to the SwimLabs family and are ecstatic about the talent and experience he brings to the Metro New York and Southern Connecticut swim communities!


Joseph Eiden
Instructor

A Westchester native, Joseph grew up swimming with local club teams and worked as a swim instructor at summer camps in the area through high school. Joseph is a recent graduate from William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, with a degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences. During his time at William & Mary he swam on the Division I swim team, contributing to the program's success in many ways. He holds team and conference records in sprint freestyle events and was named the team's MVP for the 2016-2017 season. Joe hopes to continue his education in pursuing a Master's degree in Teaching where he wants to teach elementary school.


Luke Haskell
Instructor

Luke is 23 years old and was born and raised in New York. He recently graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a degree in marketing. He is an experienced swim instructor who started teaching child learn to swim at Wings Over Water in 2010. Luke loves working with children and strives to make the pool a fun, safe place for his swimmers. He is excited to be a part of the cutting edge SwimLabs team. In the past Luke has worked as a lifeguard, a sales and marketing intern, as well as a kennel assistant at Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Patterson, New York. When he is not teaching, Luke likes to watch movies and is a big Mets fan. He likes to go on hikes, sometimes with the company of his two dogs Chanel and Jamaica.


Ernst Celestin
Level 1 Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor and Certified Pool Operator

Ernst’s core values are safety, safety, safety and believes that it's important for children to learn the skill as early as possible because it's something that they can carry and utilize throughout their lives.  He excels with the littlest ones and has a knack for being successful with the extra challenging cases by using his incredible empathy, patience and warm personality.  We also call Ernst “Mr. Certification” as he has just about every water safety or pool operation certificate and is our resident CPR and lifesaving expert trainer.  Ernst’s extensive experience includes instructing and running pool operations at Lifetime Fitness, Fenway Country Club, Knollwood Country Club, Westwood Pool Club and White Plains Parks and Recreation and working closely with children with disabilities who were preparing for the Special Olympics.
