Your First Day at
SwimLabs

We want to make learning to swim as easy as possible, that includes making sure you are prepared for lessons. Learn what to expect and bring on your first day of lessons.

Get Ready to Jump In!

Whether it’s your first swimming lesson ever or you’re fine tuning your technique, our passionate team of certified instructors are here to help you achieve your goals. All families are required to review and agree to our SwimLabs Terms & Conditions. This is typically completed as part of creating a swimmer account. You can also access a printable version via the link above.

icon-1 WHEN TO SIGN UP

You are welcome to jump-in to lessons at any time. Most of our learn-to-swim classes occur on a perpetual schedule - the same day and time each week. Once you or your swimmer is enrolled in group lessons, those lessons simply continue until you wish to withdraw. We can also schedule private lessons and video analysis sessions that work with your schedule.

clock-regular ARRIVING YOUR FIRST DAY

Please join us 15 minutes prior to your class time on your first day. We’ll make sure you have completed all of your account registration information, give you a guided tour of our facility and give you and your swimmer time to acclimate to your new swim school.  One of our team members will gather students for their classes just a few minutes prior to their class start time. Once you’re in the swing of things, arriving 5-10 minutes prior to your class start time works for most families. Most importantly, be sure your swimmer is ready to dive in on time.

suitcase-rolling-solid WHAT TO BRING TO LESSONS

We ask all swimmers to bring goggles, a swimsuit, a swim cap and a towel. Swim caps help keep swimmers hair out of their face and help keep their goggles on! All swimmers under the age of 3 (and those who are not fully potty trained) must wear a reusable diaper in addition to a disposable swim diaper.

eye-regular WHERE TO WATCH YOUR CHILD’S LESSON

Our swim schools have a climate controlled viewing area with large windows and live monitors so parents can keep a close eye on their swimmer(s) from our lobby viewing area. We ask parents to remain outside of the pool area unless we’re showing off your swimmer’s skills in a special Splash-N-Tell lesson or if you are in a ParentTot or Toddler Transition class. We’ve found that this approach helps students stay focused, improving their progression and skill retention.

icon-1 PROGRESS UPDATES

Our team of instructors keep detailed skill trackers for all of our swimmers. We’ll keep you updated on your child’s progress through our Splash-N-Tell sessions where your kiddo has the opportunity to show off their latest life-saving skills in addition to progress reports that keep you up-to-date on your students level and completed swim skills. If you’d like more frequent updates, please don’t hesitate to ask our team for more frequent progress reports. We love to talk swimming from water safety life skills to the details that go into pristine technique!
